Sheila Mary (Wersoski) Legault, 68, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Haverhill of brain cancer. Descended from the first Italian immigrants to Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Stephen S. and Vera R. (Fuller) Wersoski.
Sheila was a graduate of Haverhill High School and the Lawrence General School of X-Ray Technology. She worked as a medical x-ray technician at the Hale Hospital for thirty-three years. She was a lifelong fan of Haverhill High School sports and a wrestling booster. The sweetest and gentlest of hearts, she helped people in need, always had a kind word, and saved many a stray dog and cat.
Sheila's joys centered around a happy home, cooking for and celebrating with her family. Adventure days, holidays and dinners together forged her happiest moments across the generations; whether tobogganing behind the kids, splashing in the waves, or sitting in quiet conversation, family time was best. Every child, grandchild and great-grandchild was her favorite.
She is survived by her most cherished, devoted and adoring husband of forty-eight years (holding hands for 50), Victor "Vish" Legault, a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Dave O'Brien, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Craig Legault, Todd and Kristin (Shea) Legault and Brett and Elizabeth "Liza" (DiClemente) Legault, her loving grandchildren, Sarah Gardner, Johanna O'Brien, William "Mike" O'Brien, Kevin O'Brien, Lauren Legault and Matthew Legault, one great-grandchild, Jerica, beloved brother, Stephen and his wife, Debbie Wersoski, her dearest cousin, John "Jack" and his wife, Karen Casey, two brothers-in-law, Richard and his wife, Giselle Legault and Donald and his wife, Carol Legault, a nephew, Stephen and his wife, Chiara Wersoski, a niece, Christine "Beanie" and her husband, Mark Mazzaglia and their mother, Marie "Aunt Chickie" and many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and treasured friends, Karen Guepy, Esther Metthe and Pat Zmetrovitch.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in the Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street, Bradford from 4 - 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, 126 Monument St., Haverhill, MA 01832. Interment will be held in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
