Marie A. (Hughes) Caron, age 87 of Haverhill, formerly of Lynn, died Friday, October 17, 2008, at the Penacook Place, Haverhill.
Mrs. Caron was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, on November 19, 1920. She was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (McGarry) Hughes of Prince Edward Island. She was raised and educated in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
Mrs. Caron moved to Lynn in the 1940s and began to work at the Hawthorne by the Sea Restaurant, Swampscott, for 25 years.
Mrs. Caron was the wife of the late Victor L. Caron, who died in 1988.
She moved to Haverhill in 1970 and was employed by the former Western Electric, Co., Lucent Technology, Inc., North Andover, until her retirement in 1985.
Mrs. Caron enjoyed playing the card games of 45's and Whist, especially with her friends at the Haverhill Senior Citizens Center. Also, she traveled extensively in the States as well as to Ireland, and she traced her roots in Prince Edward Island and throughout Canada. She enjoyed socializing with friends and spending time with family, especially her three granddaughters.
She is survived by her loving children, James P. McIver and his wife Christine M. McIver of Haverhill and Elaine F. Pedro and her late husband Joseph A. Pedro of Peabody, and three cherished granddaughters, Colleen E. McIver, Maura K. McIver, and Erin M. McIver, all of Haverhill.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 21, in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue (Rte. 97), Haverhill, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hilldale Avenue, Haverhill.
Calling hours will precede her Funeral Tuesday morning in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
Contributions in Mrs. Caron's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
