Obituary

Arthur E. Bradley, age 102, a lifelong resident of Bradford, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Penacook Place, Haverhill.

Mr. Bradley was born in Haverhill on March 1, 1906, the son of the late John W. Bradley of Ireland and Mary E. (MacPoland) Bradley of Lawrence. He was educated in Bradford schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1923.

He continued his education at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston, and began his career as a Master Electrician. He worked at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard, Charlestown, for several years during World War II and retired after working for 25 years at the former L. H. Hamel Leather Co., Haverhill, in 1972.

He was the loving husband of over 64 years to the late Margaret C. (Galata) Bradley, who died May 5, 2004.

Mr. Bradley was a life long Parishioner of Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford, a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Hearts Parish, and was proud to be involved in the Boy Scouts of America, Sacred Hearts Parish Chapter, during the 1940s and 1950s.

He enjoyed traveling after his retirement with his wife Margaret, more specifically, vacationing in Bermuda many times. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived his two daughters, Margaret M. Murphy and her husband Francis Murphy of East Brookfield and Mary E. Fabris and her husband Marino Fabris of Groveland; his three sons, Charles E. Bradley of Bradford, Arthur J. Bradley and his wife Anne L. Bradley of Bradford, and Albert W. Bradley and his wife Kathleen D. Bradley of Atkinson, NH; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister in-law Christine Bradley of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Bradford Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street, Bradford, at 8:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main Street, Bradford, at 9:00 a.m. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford, adjacent to the Linnehan Bradford Funeral Home.

Calling hours Tuesday, October 7, in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Bradford Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street, Bradford, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
