Angelo N. Mantrafelias, age 82, formerly of Haverhill, died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.
Mr. Mantrafelias was born in Haverhill on August 20, 1925, the son of the late Nicholas Mantrafelias and Angelike (Matseas) Mastrogianis of Greece. He was educated in Haverhill Public schools, and was graduated from Haverhill High School. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II throughout Europe and the World before being Honorably discharged in 1946.
After returning to the States he lived in Boston, and furthered his education at a Boston business college, majoring in accounting. He worked for many years for General Cinema, Corporate Offices, Boston, and for Trade Winds, Inc. of Boston until his retirement in 1991.
During retirement he moved to Barnstable and enjoyed life on the Cape. He volunteered for years with the Cape Cod AIDS Ministry. He loved traveling throughout the World and cherished the time spent with his many friends and, especially, family.
Mr. Mantrafelias is a longtime member of the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, Haverhill.
He is survived by his partner of thirty-four years, Gerald "Lee" Randall of Barnstable; sister, Adele Papaefthemiou and her husband Sotirios of Haverhill; nephews, Chris Papaefthemiou and his wife Colleen of Haverhill and Bill Papaefthemiou and his wife Patty of Groveland; grandniece, Jocelyn Papaefthemiou; grandnephews, Sam Papaefthemiou, Evan Papaefthemiou, and Brian Papaefthemiou; great grandnephew, Kaiden; as well as many cousins and friends. He was the brother of the late Sophie Mastrogianis and uncle of the late John Papaefthemiou.
Funeral Tuesday, August 19, in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service in Holy Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154-156 Winter Street, Haverhill, at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Linwood Cemetery, Mill Street, Haverhill.
