Daniel J. "Bonnie" Broderick, age 78, lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Wednesday afternoon, July 30, 2008 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington.
Mr. Broderick was born in Haverhill on June 3, 1930, the son of the late Daniel C. and Celia (McDermott) Broderick of Ireland. He attended Haverhill schools, and was graduated from Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1949, where he played varsity football. He is a Veteran of the Korean War, having served throughout the World in the U.S. Army until being Honorably Discharged in 1953.
Upon returning to Haverhill he joined the Haverhill Fire Department, serving for over 35 years until his retirement in 1991. He is a life member of the Haverhill Amvets Post No. 147. He enjoyed golfing, the game 45's, spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren.
He was the husband of thirty-seven years to the late Nina G. (Roberts) Broderick, who died December 7, 2006. He is survived by his children, Philip D. Broderick and his wife Sandra J. of Haverhill, Christie C. Broderick of Haverhill, Pamela S. Kimball and her husband Spencer S. of Newton, NH, and the late Peter S. Parevoliotes; grandchildren, Morgan Saunooke and her husband Geoff of Sarasota, FL, Kris Broderick and his wife Martha McDermott of Houston, TX, Brian P. Broderick of Haverhill, Spencer T. Kimball of Newton, NH, Mason A. Kimball of Newton, NH, Kevin M. Kimball of Newton, NH, and Meagan Merritt of Haverhill; cousin, Cornelius Broderick of Bradford; and brother, the late Neil Broderick.
Funeral services for both Daniel J. Broderick and his wife Nina G. Broderick will be held Monday, August 4, in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Haverhill Fire Department and U.S. Army Honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill. Calling hours Sunday, 2:00-5:00 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.
