Basso, Marcia A. (Fenlon), age 68 of Bradford, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.
Mrs. Basso was born in Haverhill on January 1, 1940, the daughter of the late William J. and Laura F. (Poley) Fenlon. She had been a resident of the city her entire life. She was educated at Sacred Hearts School, Bradford, and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1957. She was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Boston College School of Nursing, Chestnut Hill, in 1961.
Marcia began her career in nursing as a registered nurse and floor supervisor at the Hale Hospital, Haverhill, until 1971. She then continued her career as a teacher in health careers at the Haverhill Trade School, Haverhill, and Whittier Regional Technical High School, Haverhill, until her retirement in 1986. She was the former "Miss Haverhill" in 1959 and represented Haverhill in the Miss Massachusetts Contest. She was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford, Haverhill Country Club, Boston College School of Nursing Alumnae Association, and Massachusetts Teachers Association.
She is survived by her husband, Rocco L. Basso of Bradford; her daughter, Pamela Marcia Janco of Bradford; her son, Paul R. Basso and his wife Jacqueline of Franklin; her five grandchildren, Christopher and Marissa Janco of Methuen, and Olivia, Rocco, and Daniel Basso of Franklin; and her two brothers, William J. Fenlon Jr. of Rochester, N.H. and Terry M. Fenlon of Roslindale.
The Funeral will be held Tuesday, February 19 at 9:30 a.m. from the C. Frank Linnehan & Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 So. Main Street, Bradford. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford. Calling hours Monday 3:00-7:00 p.m. Contributions in Marcia's memory may be made to the Sacred Hearts Parish Endowment Fund, 48 So.
