Hoffman, Thomas M., age 81 of Haverhill, died Thursday evening, March 27, 2008 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, Haverhill.
Mr. Hoffman was born in Lawrence on December 11, 1926, the son of the late Louis J. and Helen (Welch) Hoffman. He attended St. Rita's School, Lawrence, and Haverhill schools, graduating from the Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1945. He had been a resident of Haverhill most of his life.
He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46. He also served again during the Korean War from 1950-54. Mr. Hoffman was Teamster, having worked for City Oil Co., Haverhill, Wing's Express, Haverhill, Hub Transportation, Haverhill, Graf Bros. Transportation, Newburyport, and the City of Haverhill for ten years until his retirement in 1995. Member of the Teamsters Union, Local No. 437, AFL-CIO; and the Wilbur M. Comeau American Legion Post No. 4, Haverhill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Priscilla M. (Brown) Hoffman of Haverhill; daughter, Sallie J. Gauron and her husband Joseph M. of Haverhill; sons, Michael L. Hoffman of Haverhill and Jeffrey C. Hoffman and his wife Kathleen of Haverhill; brother, Louis J. Hoffman of Waukesha, WI; grandchildren, Lindsay M. Hoffman, Megan K. Hoffman, Nicole E. Gauron, and Nicholas M. Hoffman; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald F. Hoffman.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
