Clark, Helen G. (Dow), age 101 of West Newbury, died Sunday morning, April 6, 2008 at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport.
She was born in Lynn on December 1, 1906, the daughter of the late Henry E. and Elizabeth M. (Kennedy) Dow. She was educated in Lynn schools, and was a 1925 graduate of Lynn English High School, Lynn, and a 1927 graduate of Burdett College, Lynn.
Mrs. Clark had been a resident of West Newbury since 1941. She was employed as a secretary for F. W. Woolworth, Boston; and retired in 1973 as secretary to Jack Metz of the Clicker City Co., Haverhill. She devoted a tremendous amount of time volunteering at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, as well as enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, and spending time with her family. She was the oldest member of St. Ann Parish, West Newbury, and was a member the St. Ann Ladies Guild.
She was the wife of the late Arthur P. Clark, who died in 1958. She is survived by her daughter Marjorie L. O'Callaghan and her husband William D. of West Newbury; nephews, Paul Dow and his wife Mary Jane of Bristol, CT and Michael Dow and his wife Kathleen of Norwell; niece Judith Grant of Oakdale, MN; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the sister of the late Clifford H. Dow, who died in 1992, and sister in-law of the late Alice Dow.
The Funeral will be held Thursday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m. in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Main Street, West Newbury. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will follow in Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury. At the request of Mrs. Clark there will be no funeral home calling hours.
