Cumming, John F., age 87 of Haverhill, died Sunday morning, May 25, 2008 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.
Mr. Cummings was born on January 28, 1921 in Lawrence, the son of the late Michael and Margaret Cummings. He was educated in Lawrence schools, and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
He then served during World War II in the United States Army, working as a mechanic on B-17 heavy bombers. He returned to Haverhill and continued to work as a mechanic for many years until retiring to Salisbury, living on Lewis Avenue for several years.
He is survived by his cousins James F. Cummings of Haverhill and Patricia Dignard of Salisbury.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, May 30, 2008 in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill. Calling hours Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.
