Deloss "Dee" E. Doucette, Sr., age 83 of Haverhill, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.
Mr. Doucette was born in Haverhill on November 3, 1924, the son of the late Ernest J. and Lena M. (Livingston) Doucette. He was educated in St. Joseph's school, Haverhill, before working under President Franklin D. Roosevelt's program of the Civilian Conservation Corps, which renewed forestry and recreational projects throughout the Country.
Mr. Doucette is a Veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy as a Deep Sea Diver before being Honorably Discharged in 1946. Upon returning to Haverhill he worked as a Theatrical Stage Technician, a position which enabled him to travel extensively throughout the Country and overseas touring with numerous groups and companies including the Bolshoi Ballet. He also worked on many television and movie productions. Mr. Doucette owned and operated Merrimack Valley Staging Technics since the 1960s where he has been able to work with his children and grandchildren. He was member of the National IATSE and was also a member and past business agent of the Local IATSE 381, Haverhill. Mr. Doucette enjoyed the ocean, boating, and, most of all, his family and friends.
He was the husband of the late Barbara L. (Bunker) Doucette, who died in February of 1978. He is survived by his sons, Deloss E. Doucette, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Newton Junction, NH and Ernest J. Doucette II and his wife Luella of Sandown, NH; daughters, Judith A. Nolin and her husband Michael of Epping, NH and Deborah L. Tardy of Haverhill; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; siblings, Teresa J. Clement, Wililam A. Doucette, and Joseph F. Doucette; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 14, in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Walnut Cemetery, Middle Road, at the corner of Kenoza and Centere Streets at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
