Irene (Borges) Cardoza, age 90 of Swansea, passed away July 16, 2010. She was the wife of the late Joseph Cardoza & the late Ernest Mello. Born in Bristol, RI, she was the daughter of the late Marcelino & the late Mary Theresa (Silvia) Borges. Prior to retiring, Irene had worked as a Housekeeper at the Country Gardens Nursing Home, Swansea. She was also a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church in Swansea.
She is survived by her son, Michael Cardoza & his wife Kelly of Swansea, 2 grandchildren: Krystal & Michael Cardoza, 3 step grandchildren: Richard & Douglas Gallant, & Joshua Carvalho; 2 siblings: Joseph “Bucky” Borges of Warren, RI & Pheobe Borges of Bristol, RI and many nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late George, Ernest, David, Germaine, & Gloria Borges, Albertina Travers & Mary Ash.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. TUESDAY at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dominic Church, Swansea at 11:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours: MONDAY 4-8 P.M.
