Agnes Rose (Riva) Masterson, age 90, passed away at Longmeadow Nursing Home of Taunton on July 13, 2010 following a brief illness. Agnes was the wife of the late Patrick J. Masterson. She was born in Francavilla Bisio, Italy to her late parents Pasquale and Maria (Grosso) Riva. With her family, Agnes immigrated to the United States in December, 1931 and settled in Taunton. She attended Taunton schools. She was employed at M.M. Rhodes & Sons on Porter Street for 42 years. She also worked at the Gondola Restaurant that was owned by her relatives. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish (formerly St. Joseph’s Parish). She was a devoted participant at the Perpetual Novena in honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal held every Monday evening at the church. Agnes loved weekly luncheons with her friends, traveling with her husband Patrick, and watching weekly PBS broadcasts of the Lawrence Welk Show. She was an avid Red Sox fan and followed the Duke University Basketball Team. Family and friends lovingly referred to her as Noni. Agnes is survived by her children, Robert Masterson and his wife, Dianne, of Brewster; and Lawrence Masterson and his wife, Barbara, of Taunton. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Masterson and his wife, Sara, of Portland, Maine; Benjamin Masterson and his wife, Josclyn, of Plymouth; and grandniece Rhonda Veugen and her husband, Roy, of Wareham. She also survived by her great-granddaughter Grace Elizabeth Masterson, of Portland, Maine; great-grandnephew Jackson Veugen, of Wareham and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in her death by her brothers, Alexander and Mario; and her sisters Bruna Riva Traverso and Jean Riva Almeida. Funeral will be held from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Tuesday, July 20th at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Monday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
