Allene Purvis Holt, 84, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Shiloh Personal Care Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Union Primitive Baptist Church in Lax with Elder Otis McGee, Elder Phillip Smith and Elder Ed McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning until the funeral hour.
Mrs. Holt was born September 14, 1925 in Willacoochee to the late Micajah and Lucy Purvis. She attended Willacoochee High School and Business School in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Holt moved to Macon in 1981 from Fitzgerald and was a resident of Magnolia Manor in Macon for 28 years. She was a bookkeeper and a former employee of H.R. Kaminsky & Sons in Fitzgerald and Ocmulgee Arts in Macon. Mrs. Holt was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Lax and was a former member of the Fitzgerald Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Holt is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia Anne & Wayne Yarbrough of Macon and Lucy Kay & David Schell of Fitzgerald; son & daughter-in-law: Ricky & Selinda Holt of Fitzgerald; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Holt, son, Charles Robert Holt, granddaughters, Haley Elizabeth Holt and an infant baby girl and a sister, Vonelle Lee.
