James Penn, age 83, Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 following an extended illness. Mr. Penn was self-employed mechanic and a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Penn was the son of the late Homer and Mattie Lee Thomas Penn. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the College Avenue Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include: wife: Annie Jewel Taylor Penn, Douglas, GA; sons: Alfred (Jill) Penn and James Edward (Elaine) Penn, Douglas, GA; daughter: Martha Penn Morgan, Nicholls, GA; brother: Carlton M. (Mary) Penn, Orangeburg, SC, sister: Carolyn (James) Minix, Douglas, GA; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Sims Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
