E. Marcia (Hooker) Gustafson, 91, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at home. Her husband, Robert Thore Gustafson predeceased her in 2007. She was born May 22, 1919 in Worcester, the daughter of Myron F. and Florence M. (Camber) Hooker.
Marcia was a mother, a master gardener and an artist. She graduated from South High School in Worcester in 1937 and the School of the Worcester Art Museum in 1942. As part of her formal art education she attended the New Bauhaus School in Chicago where she studied with Laszlo Moholy-Nagy . After her art training, she was a window dresser at Ulian's Department store in Worcester.
She is survived by her daughter, The Rev. Lisabeth M. Gustafson of Bristol, Connecticut and her son, Donald P. Gustafson of West Boylston.
Her family will gather for a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UMass Memorial Hospice, c/o UMass Memorial Foundation, PO Box 2794, Worcester MA 01613.
