Laconia, New Hampshire-----Henry L. Hosmer, PhD, 84, of 211 Lynnewood Road, died at the Golden View Health Care Center, Meredith, on Monday, July 12, 2010.
Dr. Hosmer was born October 17, 1925 in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Henry S. and Mabel (Baum) Hosmer. He graduated from Dearborn High School in 1943 and served in the U. S. Army during WWII.
Dr. Hosmer was a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Harbor where he received his Bachelors Degree in 1949, his Masters Degree in 1950 and his Doctorate Degree in 1959. He was a member of the Acacia Fraternity.
Dr. Hosmer lived in Tucson, Arizona for several years before moving to the Lakes Region in 2002. He was a geologist and had been employed by U.S. Steel Corp. in Pittsburgh, Penn. from 1960-1990 and was the Chief Geologist for International Exploration. Dr. Hosmer was a Mason and a member of the Architec Lodge 569. He was also a member of the Society of Economic Geologists and the Society for Mining Meallurgy & Exploration, Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Helga (Mick) Hosmer, of Laconia; a daughter, Helen Giron, of Colorado and three grandchildren, Anthony Petreccia and Brian Petreccia both of California and Jonathan Giron of Colorado.
There will be no calling hours.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will at a later date in the Woodland Cemetery, Jackson, Michigan.
