Kings Park, NY/Saratoga, NYJames A. “Jim” Patton, Jr. age 63, of Brockton died Saturday July 10, 2010 at the Tippett House in Needham after a period of failing health. He was the loving and devoted husband for 43 years of Dixie A. (Train) Patton. Jim was born in Key West, Florida a son of Theresa (Vecchi) Patton of Kings Park, NY and the late James A. Patton, Sr. As a “Navy Brat” Jim moved around the world with his father’s assignments. He had been a resident of Brockton since 1977. Jim was a Viet Nam veteran having served in the US Navy for six years.
Jim was a graduate of Lowell University and was a nuclear engineer with Stone & Webster in Boston. He traveled extensively with his job and retired in 1998. In his free time Jim enjoyed riding motorcycles and flying radio controlled airplanes and helicopters he had built. He was a 20 year member of the South Shore Radio Control Club.
In addition to his wife and mother Jim is survived by his two sons Brian Scott Patton and his wife Laura of Queens, NY and Charles Joseph Patton of Brockton. He was the proud grandfather of Brian G. and Anthony J. Patton. He also leaves his sister and two brothers Tricia Horvath and Patrick Patton both of Long Island, NY; Daniel Patton of Washington, DC and several cousins.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held Friday July 16, 2010 at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton at 11 am. Jim’s family will receive family and friends 10-11 am.
