Francis L. "Butch" Connors, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. He was 81 years old.
Butch was born in Boston on December 17, 1928 to the late Timothy F. and Lillian M. (Keezer) Connors. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools. Butch enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on January 30, 1946 and served his country during World War ll. He was discharged on May 18, 1946 with the rank of private. Butch worked as a truck driver for over 32 years with T.I.M.E. Trucking Company and St. Johnsbury Trucking Company and was a retired member of Teamsters Union Local # 25. Butch was a Gold Card member of The Somerville American Legion Post # 388, serving as Junior Vice and Senior Vice Commander, Chaplain, Graves Registration Officer and Historian. Butch enjoyed the patiotic holidays of the United States of America and loved watching football.
Butch is the loving husband of 42 years to Evon L. (Jones) Connors. He is the beloved father of Maureen Connors, Peter Connors and his wife Marie, Catherine Macarone the late Frank and Timmy Connors. He is the beloved step-father of Susan Craghead, Sandra Mokrisky, Linda Vitale and her husband Tony, Wayne Carter and the late Donna Rusecky. He is the loving Grandpa to 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Lillian Margeson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Misty.
Realtives and friends are invited to attend Butch's Funeral on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
