Obituary

Alan W. Gurley, 59, of Derry, NH, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born in East Derry, NH on June 4, 1951, a son of Benjamin Gurley and Sally (Williamson) Gurley, and had been a lifelong resident of Derry. Over the years, Alan had been self employed in the tree business, the roofing business and the horse racing business. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, and a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Alan enjoyed socializing with his many family and friends.
In addition to his mother of Derry and his father of Stark, NH; he is survived by one son, Daniel Gallien of Derry; one daughter, Melanie Gurley of Nashua, NH; three brothers, Bruce Gurley of Derry, John Gurley and his wife Missy of Goffstown, NH, and Daryl Gurley of Derry; two sisters, Kathy Ball of Derry, and Rebecca Bettez and her husband Andrew of Candia, NH; two half brothers, Kevin Gurley of Manchester, NH, and Benjamin Gurley of CA; one half sister, Lynn Gurley of Manchester; his longtime companion, Holly Goodrow of Rochester, NH; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Taco. He was predeceased by a son, Troy Watts.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Wednesday, July 14th from 4:00 - 8:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Hampstead Road, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockingham VNA Hospice, 137 Epping Rd., Exeter, NH 03833.
