Melia Paul Francis P. of Marshfield, formerly of Hull July 8, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Mary J. (Martin) Melia and the late Annabeth F. (Tillman) Melia. Loving father of Retired Lt, M.S.P. Attorney Michael P. Melia and his wife Joy of Whitman, Patricia Boyd-Robertson and her husband Lindsey of Exeter, NH. Barbara Ann Benoit of Marshfield, Elizabeth M. Mulford of Staten Island, NY. Terri Denien and her husband John of Rockland, Nancy Palmgren and her husband Peter of Amherst and David Andrews of Braintree. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Brother of Harold F. Melia of West Roxbury.
Paul lived in Hull before moving to Marshfield 34 years ago, he was a retired Marine Radio Operator for N. East Surf Patrol. Paul was discharged from the US Navy WWII and the US Marines. He was a 100% disabled veteran due blindness. Paul fought many battles in the Pacific including the Leyete Gulf while serving on the USS Chickasaw A.T.F. 83. He also served on the USS Schroeder DD 501. Paul was a member of the Marshfield DAV, Hull VFW, Navy Reunions, Coast Guard Auxiliary and was a Ham Radio Operator WA1QCZ.
Visiting hours Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm.
Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home 1755 Ocean St, Rte 139, Marshfield Wednesday at 8:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St Christine’s Church 1095 Main St Marshfield at 9:00 AM.
Interment will be in the MA. National Cemetery Bourne, MA. at 11:00 am.
