Mrs. Fern I. (Cohen) Gauthier, of Taunton, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 7 in Morton Hospital surrounded by her family, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. Gauthier for 58 years. She was born 83 years ago in Hartford, Ct., the daughter of the late Israel and Edith (Labrie) Cohen. She was educated in Peabody and Cambridge, Ma., and had been a Taunton resident since 1976. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a salesclerk for the former F.W. Woolworth’s in Taunton for several years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing piano, painting and travelling. She attended Holy Family Church in East Taunton.
In addition to her husband, she leaves: 3 sons: Leonard Gauthier of Newport News, Va., Michael Gauthier of Taunton, Gregory Gauthier of Bloomfield, N.J.; 1 daughter: Laura Karol of Taunton; 1 brother: Robert Cohen of Gardner, Ma..; 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, July 12 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
