Emily D. Long age 79 of Germantown Hills, Illinois passed away at 3:45am Monday July 5, 2010 at her residence. She was born May 14, 1931 in Chicago Il, to Charles and Alice (Blum) Manteufel. She married Lester E. Long on Jan.31, 1953 in Chicago. He passed away on Feb,12 1995.
Surviving is one daughter Dianne Durbin of Metamora; Three grandsons David Long of Peoria, Jason Long of Germantown Hills, and Patrick Nauman of Metamora. Three great grandsons, and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by one sister Dolores (Warren) Teuber of Hayward WI, and one brother Charles Manteufel of Kerby OR.
She was preceded in death by one son Steven Long who passed away Feb. 24, 2005.
Emily was a graduate of Eagle River High School in Eagle River WI, and the Comptometer School of Chicago, Il. She worked in the Payroll Dept. at Krogers for many years, and also worked in the Accounting Dept. of Allied Handling Equipment Company in Peoria. Emily was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Among her greatest joys in her life were her grandsons, her great grandchildren and her “adopted” grandsons Brennen and Prestin Vanmieghem. She was instrumental in raising them all. Emily was member of Christ Church in Germantown Hills.
A memorial service will at 12:00pm Sat. July 10, 2010 at the Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Pastor Charles Buegel will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time at the Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded with burial of ashes in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora following services.
