David B. Swigart, 59, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 surrounded by loving family and friends.

David was born in Monmouth, Illinois on October 26, 1950, to Theodore E. and Dorothy (Verkler) Swigart. He married Nancy Addler on December 3, 1977 in Washington, Illinois. David is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Bruce, Jeffrey (Kara), Philip; brother, James (Debra) Swigart; sisters, Judy (Larry) Denzel, Jan (Tom) Davis, Diane (Dave) Eastman. Other family members include John & Beulah Addler, Steve (Pat) Addler, Bruce (Chris) Addler, and many loving nieces and nephews.

David was a cherished husband; father, brother, uncle, son-in-law, and dear friend to many. He loved reading the eternal Word of God and reflecting on scripture such as Colossians 3:1 “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.” His faith and family were his joy and highest priority. He has now received his heavenly reward, but will be greatly missed.

David’s love for his Lord Jesus, his compassion and encouragement to others, and his sense of humor will be remembered and treasured by those who knew and loved him. David enjoyed fishing in Minnesota, hiking in the Colorado Rockies, baking pies, grilling, and spending time with family and friends.

David worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 35 years, retiring in 2003. He also worked for Tri C Company in Eureka.

David was a member of New Life Christian Church in Morton, Illinois, where there will be a memorial worship service on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 6:00 PM.
