Obituary

MANCHESTER-John “Jack” R. Stanton, 76, died July 5, 2010 at the Elliot Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Manchester on October 6, 1933 the son of John J. and Yvonne (Isabelle) Stanton and had been a lifelong resident of this city. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School for Boys and St. Anselm College.
He served in the US Army and the NH Army National Guard and retired as Warrant Officer.
He worked for the State of NH for the Highway Department, the Occupational Health Department, the Radiological Health Department of which he served as director and retired as Assistant Director of Public Health.
He organized and computerized the records and maps for St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, was a member of Health Services Planning & Review for the State of NH.
He was a Justice of the Peace and a Notary Public, he served as a member in the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, the National Conference of Radiation Control Directors, the American-Canadian Genealogical Society and was a regular volunteer of its library. Jack volunteered at the website 'Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness'. He was a linguist and teacher of Esperanto.
Members of his family include his wife Lorraine (Mailhot) Stanton of Manchester, one son Keith Stanton of Dennis, MA., one brother Robert L. Stanton of Manchester, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 at the J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM in Parish of the Transfiguration, Kelly St., Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
