Belmont----Robert G. Stitt, 82, of 97 Middle Rt. Belmont died at his home on Sunday, July 4, 2010.
Robert was born March 18, 1928 in Laconia, the son of Mary Rose (Hennessey) and Raymond J. Stitt, Sr.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region and was a self employed painting contractor for most of his life. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Robert was a member of the American Legion Wilkins Smith Post No. 1 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laconia Post No. 1670. He enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years , Alberta (Watson) Stitt, of Belmont; four sons, Charles Stitt and his wife, Patricia, of Gilford, Patrick Stitt of Laconia, Robert J. Stitt II of Belmont and Harold Brown of Belmont; three daughters, Linda Kennard and her husband, Timothy, of Weare, Margaret Brady of Laconia and Dodie Smithers and her husband, Tom, of Gilmanton; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, including Robert J. Stitt III; a brother, Joseph C. Stitt, of Laconia and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sons, Michael E. Stitt, Robert J. Stitt, Sr. and Richard P. Stitt, and two brothers, Raymond J. Stitt, Jr. and Thomas P. Stitt.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10:00AM.
Burial will follow in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
