Ruth E. Czerwonka, 81

Dateline: Norton, MA

Ruth E. (Bellavance) Czerwonka, 81, a lifelong resident of Norton passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday July 5, 2010 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore Czerwonka, to whom she was wed for over 53 years at the time of his death on May 30, 2003.
Born in the Barrowsville section of Norton on October 10, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Blanche (Champagne) Bellavance.
Ruth grew up in Barrowsville, was educated in Norton public schools and was a graduate of Norton High School. A dedicated homemaker, she had been employed as a factory worker at the former Defiance Bleachery in Barrowsville for several years before leaving to start her new family.
A lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Mrs. Czerwonka’s church involvements included being a member of the former Catholic Women’s Club and for many years volunteered her time to help at the annual church bazaar.
Ruth loved music, cherished the times spent with her adoring family, reminiscing about the gold old days and will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills.
She was a former member of the Norton Singers, enjoyed spending times with friends at the Norton Senior Center and was a member of the Norton Historical Society.
She is survived by her devoted children Michael Oscar Czerwonka and his wife Rhonda of Norton, Joyce M. Dennett and her husband William of Attleboro and Judy A. Joncas and her husband Paul of Mansfield. She was the dear sister of Ann Howe of Austin, Texas, Mary Iwanicki of Taunton and the late Raymond Bellavance, Armand Bellavance, Leo Bellavance, Louise Bussiere and Ida Bliss. The loving grandmother of Tania O’Brien, Jim Tripolone, John Kandalaft, Joshua Kandaaft, Sarah Joncas, Tommy Joncas and D.J. Dennett, she is also survived by her cherished 5 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday July 8th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 1 Power St. Norton. Burial will be at a later date in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday July 7th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
