Alma M. Heller, 87, of Metamora passed away at 4:30am Sat July 3, 2010 at Snyder Village in Metamora.
She was born Nov 2, 1922 in Steeleville, IL the daughter of Louis and Alma Schnoeker Welten. She married Eugene R. Heller on June 20, 1942 in Steeleville.
Surviving is her husband and their four children Donna (Mike) Thacker of Walnut, IL, Jerry (Rhonda) Heller of Metamora, Marceline Lewis of New Lenox, IL and John (Annette) Heller of East Peoria. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one sister Ruth (Bill) Jacquemin of Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
She was a cook at the Blue Mound School District retiring in June of 1980 after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Old Stonington Baptist Church in Stonington, IL and also attended the Christian Union Church in Metamora.
She was an incredibly kind and generous individual. Many have been a beneficiary of Alma’s needlework and baked goods. She enjoyed participating in Bible Studies and watching Cardinal Baseball.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service is scheduled for family and close friends at 10am on Sat July 10, 2010 at Christian Union Church in Metamora with her grandson Jeremy Heller officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial of her cremated remains will be at a later date at the Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, IL. The family has requested no flowers. Memorials may be given in her name to Snyder Village.
