South Lawrence, MA – Janice G. (Verner) Hamel, 67, died Friday July 2, 2010 at the Westford House, in Westford, MA surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 16th 1942 in Methuen, Janice was the daughter of John and Gertrude (Desruisseau) Verner. Janice was a graduate of Saint Patrick High School.
For many years Mrs. Hamel was the music teacher at Sacred Heart School and worked with the children of that parish. Prior to its closing she was also the music director, and cantor. Janice was the co-creator and original performer in the passion play All I Have Done For You.
Janice is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband of 47 years retired firefighter John J. Hamel; children-Lawrence Firefighter, LT. Paul J. Hamel and his wife Amy; daughter Melissa and husband Tim White of Rhode Island; sister, Sister Joan Verner, SC; 4 grandchildren-Rebecca and Christina Hamel, and Eliza and Dylan White as well as a large extended family.
Janice was predeceased by her sister Earline Verner.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, July 7th from 4-8 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, July 8th at 10 AM at St. Augustine’s Church in Andover followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Corbett Road in Andover.
