TAUNTON, MA – Mary J. (Deasley) Hayes, wife of the late Harold F. Hayes, died at her Taunton, MA home, surrounded by her family on July 1, 2010.
She was 95.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Susan (Breene) Deasley.
Mrs. Hayes moved to the U.S. in 1931, settled in Newport, RI and later moved to Taunton, MA. A co-owner of the former Hazelton Inn for many years, and member of the Winthrop St. Baptist Church, in Taunton, she held memberships in many clubs and organizations, in both the Taunton and Middleboro, MA areas.
She enjoyed knitting, cooking, dancing, playing cards, and spending time at Newport Beach.
Mrs. Hayes was also an avid reader.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra M. Hayes of Hyde Park, NY and Helen A. Sypek of Taunton; three grandchildren, Katelyn Sypek, Kourtney Fitzmaurice and Daviene Porco; five great grandchildren, Kelsey and Matthew Butkiewicz, Joseph, Thomas and John Robert Porco; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Winthrop St. Baptist Church, Winthrop St. Taunton on Tuesday, July 6th at 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, July 5th from 4 to 7 pm.
