Obituary

Francis J. Smith of Weymouth, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on June 27, 2010. He was 81 years old.

Born and raised in Roxbury, Frank played football for Roxbury High School. He entered the United States Marine Corps at age 17 and served in WWII. Following the war, Frank re-enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. Frank was a "Jack of all trades" who could fix anything. Following his military service, he held various jobs for the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Frank maintained the Cleveland Circle MDC Pool for a number of years and drove the zamboni and maintained the MDC Shea Rink in Jamaica Plain. Frank is also a former employee of the Boston Police Academy.

Frank was the dear and devoted husband of the late Teresa (Bumbacca). Loving father of Susan Allen of Dorchester, Michael Smith of Weymouth, Donna Dumont of Braintree, Marie Realini of Weymouth, Barbara Cerilli of Braintree, Steven Smith of Weymouth and the late Robert Smith. Dear brother of Patricia Smith of Waltham and the late Eileen Foley, Eleanor Blasser, Kathleen Lynch, John Smith and Robert Smith. Cherished "Grampy" of 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Frank's Funeral Mass was celebrated July 1, 2010 at St. Theresa of Avila Church. Visiting hours were held at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. in West Roxbury.
