Joseph A. Corso, 78, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his home. Mr. Corso was born in New York City, NY on July 21, 1931, son of the late Charles and Anna (Forzese) Corso . He was a resident of Derry for the past 18 years, formerly living in Pompano Beach, FL. Mr. Corso grew up in New York as well as Lawrence and Methuen, MA. He served with the U.S. Army. He worked as a painter and built and painted many of the items and amusements at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH. Mr. Corso also drove the employee shuttle bus for the Auto Auction of New England. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed collecting WWII memorabilia. Mr. Corso loved history and enjoyed watching The History Channel. His goofy, loving personality will sadly be missed.
He is survived by his partner of 20 years, Claire Simmons of Derry, three children, Jennifer Corso of Derry, Paul Corso of Marlborough, MA, Lucille Corso of Hampstead, NH, five step-children, Brenda St. Pierre of Derry, John Migliori of Haverhill, MA, Paul Migliori of Manchester, NH, Stephen Migliori of Methuen, MA and Laura Migliori of Jamaica Plain, MA, two brothers, Robert Corso of Hudson, NH and Richard Corso of Kingston, NH. He is also survived by many grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many cousins and his cat, Rosie. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank Corso.
Following cremation visiting hours were held from 4-8pm Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Military honors closed the visiting hours at 8:00pm in the funeral home. Burial of his urn will take place on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:00pm in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, at Grove and Railroads Streets in Methuen, MA.
