Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Frank C. Guyer, Jr., age 91, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Tippett Home in Needham.
He was the beloved husband of Elsie A. (Johnson) Guyer, with whom he celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on November 6, 2009.
Born in Tewksbury on February 15, 1919, he was the son of the late Frank C. Guyer, Sr. and the late Ernestine (Ilg) Guyer.
Frank attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School. He later attended and graduated from the Brown Technical School in Wilmington, Delaware.
In 1941, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during World War II with the 864th Air Engineer Squadron. He was awarded several decorations for his military service including the American Defense Service Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for ten years, as a machinist and machine designer by the former Merrimack Paper Company in Lowell. Frank previously worked for 20 years as a technical manager for the Sonoco Paper Company of Lowell.
In his retirement, Mr. Guyer enjoyed designing and crafting wrought iron fireplace equipment and decorative items for his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife Elsie, Frank is survived by two sons, Carl C. Guyer and his wife Janice of Southborough, Massachusetts and Dr. Eric C. Guyer and his wife Deborah of Dover, Massachusetts; two granddaughters, Emily A. Guyer , a practicing civil engineer living in Brooklyn, NY and Brittany L. Guyer, a graduate student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Guyer was the brother of the late Elsie Holt, Marion Gale, Frances Cox and Ruth Harkins.

At his request there are No Calling Hours and funeral services will be private.
