Jack E. Harrica, 68, of Derry, NH passed from this life Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Born February 2, 1942 in Lowell, MA to the late James and Georgiana Harrica, he was a graduate of Lowell High School.
He went on to serve our country proudly in Korea in the Army, being honorably discharged after serving four years of active duty.
Mr. Harrica then went on to work for Honeywell as a project engineer, working on the computer chip program. He left Honeywell and went to work for the Teradyne Corporation where he continued his work on the computer chip. Upon his retirement, Jack went to work for Shaw’s Grocery Store in Derry, NH in the deli department for 12 years where he was well known for his stories and laugh. Jack drag raced in Florida and enjoyed the sport immensely. He was an avid tennis player and sponsored along with his wife, a tournament in his back yard courts, for local talent. He was also a nationally respected tennis official, having called a nationally televised match at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, NY, and even got stared down by the famous John McEnroe on a close call. Jack also enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family and friends. He had a zest for life that was unsurpassed.
He was predeceased by his wife, Donna (Schmidt) Harrica in 1997. He leaves his brother, James Harrica Jr. of West Springfield, MA, sisters, Judith Enis of Dracut, MA and Joyce Lampron of Ocala, FL. He also leaves his companion and best friend of the past nine years, Antonia Dawson and their son Brad of Derry, NH who will miss him forever.
The family and Antonia received friends Tuesday, June 29, 2010, from 5-7pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St. Derry, with a funeral service that followed at 7pm. The burial will be held privately in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Fitzwilliam, NH.
