Boston – Donald E. Henry, 62, of New Bedford died June 22, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Henry was born in Acushnet, son of the late Ellis C. and Barbara L. (Kennedy) Henry, and was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. He was a U.S Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a commercial fisherman and later was employed by Titleist as a machine operator until leaving due to illness. He enjoyed playing cards, pool, watching western movies and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include 5 sisters: Carole Shurtleff of Westport, Beverly Vargas of Texas, Ann Jones of North Carolina, Barbara Felix of New Bedford and Marjorie Henry of Acushnet; 2 brothers: George Henry and Daniel Henry, both of New Bedford; his closest friend Richard Bastarache and his family of Dartmouth; and several nieces & nephews. Special thanks to Jesse Frysinger for being a close and devoted friend.
Mr. Henry was brother of the late Richard Miller, Michael Henry and Betty Dube.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Kirby Funeral Home.
Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne will be private.
