In Raynham, MA, May 14, 2010 Helen Anita Mogus, age 82 passed away in the Life Care Center of Raynham, MA after a lengthy illness. She was a survivor after being stuck down at the age of 52 by a stroke & mis-diagnosed, an independent women, the Gloria Steinem of her day born ahead of her time. She worked full time. She was the loving wife of the late George F. Mogus & caring mother of three children Larry, Wayne and Lorraine. Helen was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada to her late parents Hector & Julia-Ann (Martin) Melville where she met her husband George F. Mogus as he was serving in the Canadian Forces there. They moved to Alberta Canada where they started a family and then to the Taunton area in 1952 and has resided here until her death. She wanted nothing more than to come to America a country that did not do her justice! She worked full time as a waitress at several prominent local restaurants including the former Leonard’s, Dunnington’s, Roman’s on Rt. 44, Gondola & the cafeteria at Morton Hospital. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and caring person to all who knew her and cherished most of all the time spent with her family. Helen is survived by her daughter Lorraine A. Custer of Weymouth, MA Her granddaughter Melissa Resendes and great grandchildren Kelsey and Michael of Taunton, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton on Thursday, July 1st at 11am.
