Steiner, Howard, 95 of Park Ridge died on June 20, 2010. Born June 28, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the youngest of six children born to W.K. Steiner and Edna A. Steiner. Howard came east during the Great Depression and lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Peg) and Charles G. Kiskaddon, Sr. and their family in River Edge, NJ. There he met and married June Celeste Adriaenssen in 1942; they were married over 60 years.
Ultimately settling in New Milford, NJ in 1951, Howard and his late wife, June, raised two children. He is survived by his son Steven and his wife Ida Faye of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ and his daughter Gail Natoli and her husband Anthony of Lanoka Harbor, NJ. Also surviving him are five grandchildren; Tara Kownacki and Jennifer Natoli, Eric, Alan and Thomas Steiner and four great-grandchildren; Jacob, Casey, Kira and Mia Kownacki plus many nieces and nephews.
He began working for the Ford Motor Company at its Edgewater, NJ plant during the depression and later was a manager for over 20 years at a Ford dealership – Fort Lee Motors, Inc. He also managed his own private business. He was an avid sports fan and closely followed his boyhood team – The Pittsburgh Pirates.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 12PM at the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus. In lieu of flowers donations in his name to either the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.
