WALTER T. LABORE died June 23, 2010 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 94. Born in Manchester, NH on April 29, 1916, he was the eldest son of Odore and Regina (Corriveau) Labore, and had been a resident of Stamford, CT for 66 years prior to residing in Vero Beach, FL in 2000.
He had a long and distinguished career at Pitney-Bowes, Inc. of Stamford and Norwalk, CT, where he was noted for many achievements and patented inventions. He retired in 1983 as Manager of Special Projects.
In his life: He was predeceased by his wife Mabel (Lane) Labore and his son Walter T. Labore Jr., both of Stamford, and his brother Gerald Labore of Manchester.
Members of his family include three daughters, Joan Sandow of Pisgah Forest, NC and Vero Beach, FL, Diane Labore of Meriden, CT, and Carol Labore of New Haven, CT, two sisters, Doris Harrington of Manchester, NH and Florette Doepker of Cincinnati, Ohio, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday June 28 at the J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge Street., Manchester, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 am on June 29 in the Parish of the Transfiguration, Kelly and Alsace Streets, Manchester, followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Connecticut Chapter, 306 Industrial Park Road, Suite 107, Middletown, CT 06457.
