Evans, GA – James “Jim” Mason Counts, 68, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Doctor’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Dane Wagner, Rev. George Broome, and Rev. Robert Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Jim was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. He was the past president of the Woodbridge Home Owners Association. He was an engineer and attended Middle Tennessee State University before receiving his BS degree in Civil Engineering from Kennedy Western University. He retired from Westinghouse at SRS. Jim was an avid University of Tennessee football fan an also enjoyed playing golf. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Carol Counts, two sons, Jeffery Counts and fiancé Doris Myers of Martinez, GA, Jason Counts and wife Ginger of Martinez, GA, four brothers, Parker Counts of Huntsville, AL, Stief Counts of Chattanooga, TN, Terrell Counts of Huntsville, AL, David Fite of Sterling, VA, one sister, Emily Fite Parke and husband Keith of Murfreesboro, TN, three grandchildren, Evan Counts, Austin Zepp, and Kaylie Zepp. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, the late Kermit Counts and wife Louise Counts and the late Louise Ledford Fite and husband Dr. Reynolds Fite.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Rembarger, Clarence Savage, Steve Laricy, Eddie Howerton, Bobby Bryant, Toxey Smith, Carl Menger, and Tony Marsella. Honorary pallbearers will be the Jane Wells Sunday School Class.
