WESTPORT — Linda J. Bauer, age 61 years, of Westport, died at home after a brief illness on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Robert V. Bauer.
Born in New Bedford, Linda was the daughter of Mildred (Allen) Fullerton of New Bedford and the late Alvin Basnight, and a graduate of New Bedford Vocational School. She lived on Cuttyhunk Island for many years and 32 years ago moved to Westport.
An avid bingo player, Linda loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. In recent years, she was employed at Walmart.
She is survived by her son, Robert Bauer and his partner, Rebecca DeMello of Westport; her daughters, Laurie Correia and her husband, Keith of Westport and Jill Silvia and her husband, Aaron of Fairhaven; three sisters, Judith Isidorio of Plymouth, Carol Texeira of Rutland and Susan Panker of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Robert Silvia and Ava Bauer; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford on Friday from 4-7 P.M. Her graveside service will take place on Cuttyhunk Island on Saturday with guests asked to take the 1 P.M. sail on the M/V Cuttyhunk for an afternoon burial service.
