THOMPSON – John R. “Jack” Romanek, 66, of 131 Pasay Road, North Grosvenordale, CT, died Sunday, November 9, in UMass Medical Center, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Ann Marie (Cournoyer) Romanek; 2 daughters, Brenda Romanek Connors of North Grosvenordale, and Sandra A. Romanek of Putnam; a sister, Esther Coderre of Littleton, NH; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Marie Romanek who died Dec. 12, 2002, a brother, Edward Romanek and a sister, Doris Jablonski.
He was born and raised in Webster, the son of John F. and Victoria (Napieralski) Romanek, and lived in North Grosvenordale.
He was a 1955 graduate of Bartlett High School, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam era.
Mr. Romanek was the owner and proprietor of R&R Gulf Station in Webster for 40 years.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica, Webster. He loved being by the pond which he made and wanted all people to enjoy it with him.
The funeral will be held Friday, November 14, from the Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, With a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery.
