Martha Greene Smith Cranford, 88, a residence of Cypress Pond Assisted Living Center in Tifton, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Pete Jones and Rev. Jackie Connell will officiate with burial to follow in Enigma Cemetery. Larry Crumley, Darwin Walker, Gary Dorminey, Earl Blanchard, Tommy King and Bobby Metts will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 24, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Cranford was born on October 18, 1921 in Tift County and was the daughter of Dennis H. Greene and Louise Fletcher Greene, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Gladys McMillan and two brothers, Dennis Green and Harmon Kemp Green. She worked for many years at The Big Store in Tifton before moving to Enigma, where she worked at the Berrien County Tax Office. She had lived most of her life in Tifton and Berrien Counties and was a member of Enigma Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cranford is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harris and JoAnn Smith of Tifton and Danny and Lucile Smith of Sylvester; five grandchildren, Georgia Daniel Smith, Jr. and his wife, Shelia, of Jacksonville, Florida, Heather Worley and her husband, Jared, of Ellaville, Lucas Smith of Adel, Kevin Smith and his wife, Angie, of Alexander City, Alabama and Michael Smith and his wife, Jamie, of Cullman, Alabama; and seven great grandchildren.
