William S. “Bill” Dobeck, 46, of Blackstone St., Blackstone, died Friday at home.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of William T. and Joanne (Brothers) Dobeck of Blackstone.
Bill was a graduate of Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, Class of 1981. He also attended the Western New England College and later the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.
For many years, he worked along with his father as a steeplejack for Dobeck Painting Company. Bill and his dad often attracted the attention of local press as they painted and restored historic New England church steeples.
Bill was a gifted chef and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul’s Church.
He enjoyed camping with his son and family members and served as a lifeguard in his youth.
Bill was the proud and loving father of Drew Daniel Dobeck of Blackstone, and brother of Laura Dobeck of Manville, Emily (Dobeck) Ciccarelli, and her husband Dustin, of Millville and the late Anne Dobeck. He was the uncle of Hannah, William, Thomas, Joseph, Vincent, Anthony, and Caleb. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 am in St. Paul’s Church, St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are omitted.
Friends of Bill are organizing a golf tournament to provide a scholarship for Bill’s son Drew. Details will be announced at a later date.
