Mary Helen (Moriarty) Siemers, long time resident of Halifax, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the age of 86 at Newfield House in Plymouth, MA. She is survived by her six children, Edward Siemers and his wife Linda of Braintree, Eileen Picariello and her husband Stephen of Pembroke, Pegeen Rowan and her husband Stephen of Whitman, Claire Kyser and her husband John of Halifax, Lorraine Siemers and Ann Pierce of Halifax. Loving grandmother of Derek Picariello, Debbie Sullivan, Marc Pierce, Christopher Rowan, Melissa Ochoa and Brian Rowan; also survived by five great grandchildren. Sister to Paul Moriarty, Barbara Reincke Kathy Shahvari and the late Eileen (Girlie) Meserve and Ruth Windsor in addition she leaves many nieces and nephews.
Also known as "Sister", Helen grew up in Abington, MA. She proudly served her country as a member of the US Navy during World War II and later held the position of Veterans Agent for the town of Halifax for many years. A graduate of Bridgewater State College and later Suffolk University, where she received her Masters, she retired from the Department of Transitional Assistance after twenty eight years where she held the position of Director of the Wareham office. She was a great golfer and member of The Halifax Country Club and very proud of her hole in one! She was well traveled, enjoyed oil painting, cross country skiing and was an avid reader.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 25th at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Halifax, with burial immediately following at The MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours Thursday, June 24th from 4:00-8:00PM at Shepherd Funeral Home 216 Main St. (Rt. 106), Kingston. Donations may be made in Mary's name to: American Cancer Society, P.O.
