Obituary

Ann Marie (Pelletier) Hughes, 71, died peacefully at home on June 19. Marie was born in Lawrence, MA on February 24, 1939. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1956 and moved with her family to North Andover in that same year. She married the late Francis J. Hughes of Lawrence and spent the next eight years beginning a family with her husband as he served in the United States Air Force. The couple lived in Japan, Alaska, New York, and New Jersey prior to returning to North Andover where Marie spent the next forty-five years of her life.
Marie raised her three children in North Andover while spending her professional career working with the Butcher Boy and China Blossom Restaurants, as well as the Hainsworth Insurance Agency. During her retirement, Marie was an active member of the North Andover T.R.I.A.D., North Andover Senior Center and also served several years volunteering as a classroom aide and library assistant at the South Lawrence East Elementary School.
Marie loved playing Bingo with her friends and spending vacations with her family each year in York Beach, ME.
Marie was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her three children, James R. Hughes of North Andover, Deborah A. (Hughes) Andruchuk of Goffstown, NH, and Michael A. Hughes of Orlando, FL. Marie is also survived by her sister Louise Cormier of Charleston, S.C. She was a proud grandmother of Katie, Josh, Ali, Ryan, Kyle, and Christopher.
Friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23rd, at the Charles F. Dewhirst Andover Funeral Home, 33 Pearson Street, Andover, MA. A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Michaels Church, North Andover. Burial is to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover.
