Laconia-----Alice N. LaPierre, 82, formerly of Laconia, Gilford and Winnisquam, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home, Laconia on Monday, June 21, 2010. She was the widow of Martin N. LaPierre who died in 2000.
Alice was born November 8, 1927 in Laconia, the daughter of Edward J. and Albina (Remillard) Skinner. She was a lifetime resident of the Lakes Region. As a young teenager, she worked as an usher at the Colonial Theater, later at Kellers’ selling ice cream in Downtown Laconia. She worked at Gilbert Clock which was located in one of the restored mills in Laconia on Beacon Street. She enjoyed her many good friendships while working at Laconia Needle.
Alice was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America - Court of Our Lady of the Lakes Church.
Alice was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jim Valtz of Belmont and their children, Carissa Valtz and Jonathan Valtz, both of Tilton; by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne M. and Jane LaPierre of Florida and their children, Scott LaPierre of Florida and Jason LaPierre of South Carolina; and a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gary Flack, of Belmont and their children, Jessica Schofield of Penacook and Jennifer Gauthier of South Carolina; twelve great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased a sister, Cecile Patten.
Calling hours will be held from 6:00-8:00PM on Thursday, June 24, 2010 in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.
