Obituary

Mary P. (McCurdy) Larrabee, 90, of Medway, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Geriatric Authority of Milford. She was the wife of Roland Larrabee who died in 1958.

Born in Boston on March 3, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Sughrue) McCurdy. Mrs. Larrabee was a resident of Medway for the past 15 years and formerly resided in Ashland for 40 years. She grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School and later attended Fisher College in Boston.

She served in the US Coast Guard during WWII and later served in the US Navy Reserves.

Mrs. Larrabee worked for many years for the Ashland Police Department as a secretary, dispatcher and special police officer. She later held the same position with the Sherborn Police Department. She also worked for several years at O.A. Both in Ashland and Framingham State College, before her retirement.

Mrs. Larrabee traveled extensively throughout the USA and also visited many countries in Europe and Africa. Her favorite destination was Ireland, where she visited many times.

She was an avid bridge player and was well-known for her incredible bridge playing skills.

She is survived by her son, John Larrabee of Woonsocket, RI, her daughter, Kathleen Larrabee of Greensboro, NC, her daughter-in-law, Rita Larrabee of Medway and her grandchildren, Timothy and Sean Larrabee of Medway and Meaghan Larrabee of Philadelphia, PA.

She was the mother of the late Robert T. Larrabee and sister of the late Julia Stack.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 24 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home 3 Barber St. in Medway.

Graveside services will take place privately on Friday in North Cambridge Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Medway Senior Center, 76 Oakland St. Medway, MA 02053.
