Constance A. Clark, 58, of East Freetown died Wednesday January 23, 2002 unexpectedly at home. She was the wife of Ronald C. Merkman, and daughter of the late Stanley and Violette (Brown) Clark.
Ms. Clark was born and raised in East Providence, RI, and had lived in East Freetown for the last 27 years. She was a graduate of East Providence High School, and St. Augustine University in North Carolina.
She was a member of the Congdon Street Baptist Church in Providence, RI.
Ms. Clark was formerly employed as a third grade teacher at the Sarah D. Ottiwell School in New Bedford until her retirement 4 years ago.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Ronald C. Merkman, Jr., of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Stacey A. Merkman and Sonya A. Merkman, both of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Stanley Clark and Robert Clark, both of East Providence; a sister, Deborah Rashaad; and 3 grandchildren, Wayne Silva, Nicholas Merkman and Janelle Merkman.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday Jnauary 26, 2002 at 10 AM in Bethel A.M.E. Church, 532 County St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rumford Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-9 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
