Methuen, Ma. – Wilfred J.Charest, 81, died Thursday June 17, 2010 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House after a short but difficult battle with cancer. Born in Methuen, Wilfred attended local Methuen schools. He was born Wilfred Joseph Charest son of the late Phidime and Leonie (Belanger) Charest. For many years he had been employed as a laborer at the Frank C. Myers. Prior to his retirement he worked for the City of Methuen in the Tree and Park Department.
Along with his late wife of 52 years Patricia M. (Hardy) Charest, Wilfred loved camping with the family, fishing, going for clams at the beach, stock car racing, cooking, vacationing in Treasure Island, Florida with his sister-in-law Marilynn Briggs and many loving friends in FL, he also adored spending time with his granddaughter Jamie on the weekends whom Patricia and Wilfred raised, as well as spending time with his cats Munchkin and Twinkles, even building a playground for them so they could play outside.
Survivors include grand daughter Jamie M. Charest of Somerville, children William J. Charest of Methuen and Deborah J Charest of Taunton and the late Dennis J. Charest of Maine. Brother & sisters Frederick Charest of Andover, Jeanette Dowd of Methuen, the late Leo Charest of Methuen, Alice Noel of Boca Raton, FL, Alcid Charest of Worcester, Phidime Charest of Methuen and Theresa Frechette of Methuen, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
