Obituary

WEBSTER - Frederick J. Denham, 76, of 96 Slater Street, died Thursday, June 17, in Oakwood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

He leaves 4 sons, William M. Denham of Webster, David J. Denham of Sturbridge, Stephen Denham of Oxford and Joseph F. Denham of Auburn; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 6 brothers, Gary Denham, Francis “Butch” Denham, Albert Denham and John Denham, all of Webster, Kenneth Denham of Indiana and Edward Denham of Baltimore, MD; 5 sisters, Jean Watson of Dudley, Janet Ozak, Barbara Burns, Arlene Denham and Ellen “Sue” Stinchfield, all of Webster; his former wife, Virginia M. (Gilchrist) Downey of Brimfield; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ronald and Richard Denham.

He was born in Lowell and raised in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester and then in Worcester, the oldest of the thirteen children of Frederick and Helen (Gagnon) Denham. He lived in Auburn for about 20 years before moving to Webster 35 years ago.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Denham installed roofs and siding for Capitol Aluminum of Auburn. He then owned and operated the Denham Roofing and Siding Company. He also was talented as a repairman, painter and remodeler.

He was a former member of the Church of the Reconciliation. He enjoyed fishing at Webster Lake on a regular basis.

The funeral will be held on Monday, June 21, at 11:00 AM in the Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main Street. Calling hours will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Monday in the church before the service. After cremation, he will be buried in Mount Zion Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
