Donald Alvin Henderson, 77, of Enigma died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Memorial Convalescent Center in Adel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Enigma Baptist Church. Rev. Pete Jones will officiate with burial to follow in Lawrence Cemetery with full military honors. Members of the military will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Henderson was born on May 17, 1933 in Enigma and was the son of John Henderson and Martha Walker Henderson, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Hallie Coarsey Henderson, who died in 1984; and one son, Jimmy Henderson. He was retired from the United States Air Force and was a member of Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado.
Mr. Henderson is survived by one son, Chuck Henderson of Waterloo; four daughters, Kathrine Smith of Tifton, Laurel Lee Pearson of Enigma, Donna Yancey of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Charlotte Henderson Webb of Tifton; two sisters, Wanda Keen of Tifton and Donnell Whitaker of Adel; 13 grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
